Das luxuriöse 450 SLC 5.0 Coupé wurde 1977 eingeführt und wurde von einem neuen V90-Motor mit 4,990 cm3 Aluminiumlegierung angetrieben
der sowohl leichter als auch leistungsfähiger war als die vorhandene 4,5-Liter-Einheit. Die Verwendung von Aluminium erstreckte sich auf die Motorhaube
was den für Sportwagen immer wichtiger werdenden Kraftstoffverbrauch weiter senkte. Nicht in den USA
